This special award is presented to the film or video that is judged
"Best of Festival". A special panel will choose the best of the
Silver Chris winners for the President's Award.

The "Silver Chris Award" will be
presented to the the production
deemed over-all best in each
division. These "Silver Chris"
winners will compete for the
"President's Award" (best of festival).

"The Chris Statuette" is the highest award
given to film or video productions. Entries are
judged on a seven point rating system. A
superior rating of seven is required
for winning the Chris.

Productions are competitively evaluated
against other productions in their division as
well as on the merits stated above. Chris
winners are widely recognized as receiving
the hallmark of superior quality.



 

 

 

 

 

"The Bronze Plaque" award is
presented only to productions of high
merit, which in the opinion of the
judges will be effective and useful
contributions to their subject area.
Bronze Plaques are presented
to productions receiving a rating of six.

 

 

"The Certificate of Honorable
Mention" is awarded to an entry
based on its overall quality or based
on particular production values that
are notable. Honorable Mention is
presented to productions with a
rating of five.

 

The top student award presented is
"The OSU Photography and Cinema
Alumni Society Award." This award is
presented in conjunction with the
Alumni Society of the Department of
of Photography and Cinema,
The Ohio State University
.


 

The "Ben Franklin Award" is presented to the most creative
and distinguished print material submitted with a film
or video entered in the festival.

Our judging panels consist of carefully selected professionals
experienced in production, or expertise in their respective fields, and
are well qualified to judge in their divisions. While new jurors are added
from time to time, the majority have had many years experience. Jurors
do not participate in the evaluation of any entries by any organizations
with which they are affiliated

The successful production will meet the high standard of quality
established over the festival's 56 year history. The small independent
producer with a lean budget has an equal chance to compete with
generously funded productions if the criteria below are successfully
met. It is the festival's intention to encourage promising new producers
as well as recognize established successful ones.
