Dean C. Kette
The Arts

Mr. Kette has been a partner in Design Communications, Inc., a graphic design studio since 1978. He is a graduate of the Columbus College of Art and Design where he was honored in 1991 as an "Outstanding Alumni". He also taught at CCAD as a member of the evening school faculty for 18 years. He has been affiliated with the festival since 1990.

 

 

 

Dewey V. "Marty" Martin
Business & Industry

President of Video & Communications Design, Martin holds a M.S. from Miami of Ohio in Radio TV Film. Experienced in corporate and university environments, Martin taught television production at the college level. He was the founding president of the Columbus chapter of the International Television Association. He previously has been a juror for several years.

 

 

Edward Hancock
Children and Youth

A Bachelor in Fine Arts, Cinema Production from The Ohio State University in 1983. Mr. Hancock is an award winning freelance producer with more than 15 years experience in film and video. He is Associate Director for OSU's Department of Reprographics. Mr. Hancock has been active with the festival since 1995.

 

 

Wayne C. Miller
Education & Information

M.A. from Michigan State University. Assistant Director of Student Services and an academic advisor at Franklin University, he teachs courses in film history and film appreciation. Mr. Miller is a reviewer on "World Film Classics" on Educable TV25 and a presenter at the Columbus Museum of Art's film series, "Movies on Media" and associate editor of the Movies on Media catalog.

 

 

 

Lance Carwile
Entertainment

B.A. in Cinema and Broadcasting from The Ohio State University, Mr. Carwile was a film editor for WCMH-TV from 1983-85 and has been a director since then. He is also Convention AV Coordinator for the Ohio Association of Broadcasters as well as advisor for the Summer Movie Series at the Ohio Theatre for the Columbus Association of the Performing Arts. He is the Program Director for WWHO-TV

 

 

 

John DeSando, Ph.D.
The Humanities

Professor of Humanities at Franklin University, teaching film studies and English literature. Film reviewer for "World Film Classics" on Educable TV25, and past-president of the Kiwanis Club of Columbus. A presenter at the Columbus Museum of Art's film series, "Movies on Media" and associate editor of the Movies on Media catalog. Listed in "Who's Who in American Education for 1995-96

 

 

 

Ellen W. Stukenberg
Mental Health

M.A., Theatre, Northwestern University. Director of Theatre, Rockford and Elmhurst Colleges; English and Speech faculties, most recently at Otterbein and Columbus State. Producer/director of educational video series: ITV Palm Beach County, OSU, Columbus State, and the Ohio Department of Mental Health. Currently, Development Director for Ohio Advocates for Mental Health.

 

 

 

James R. Luckhaupt
Physical Health

Ten years experience in corporate communications for a national, non-profit organization and six years experience as an instructional designer and television producer! director at The Ohio State University. Taught P.R./media planning, instructional design and television at the university level. He has more than ten years experience in media program design and production.

 

 

 

Delores Sherwood
Religion

Retired Audio-Visual Supervisor of Augsburg Fortress, a Christian publishing house, Ms. Sherwood has been active as a volunteer, juror, chair and trustee with The Columbus International Film & Video Festival since 1964.

 

 

 

Daniel G. Whittecar
Science & Technology

B.A. from Capital University, M.F.A. from Ohio University in Theatre. A film editor at WBNS-TV since 1981, now a broadcast engineer for the station. Mr. Whittecar has been with the festival since 1988.

 

 

 

Dr. Charles Cole
Social Issues

Emeritus Director of the Ohio Humanities Council, he was Associate Dean at Columbia University, Professor of History, Dean and Provost of Lafayteet College, and President of Wilson College. He appears on Channel 3 in "Conversations in the Humanities" and is listed in Who's Who in America.

 

 

 

Nils Lindquist
CD-ROM

Retired president and owner of three production companies in film, sound and TV news, with more than 45 years of experience, Lindquist holds degrees from Bowling Green State and Ohio State Universities. He served as chairman of the Business & Industry division, Vice President of the Film Council, and is producer of the Awards Presenation. Lindquist is now a computer consultant teaching senior citizens how to operate computers.

 

 

 

James A. Richardson
Media Of Print

President and owner of R Graphics, Inc., graphic designer/print broker. Mr. Richardson has served on the board of directors of the Printing Industry of Central and Southem Ohio; the Advisory Committee for Harry E. Tolles Technical Center; and the Advisory Committee for the Ohio Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. He has been with the festival since 1979.

 

 

 

Linda Thornburg
Screenwriting

An award winning writer-director with more than twenty years experience in film, TV and theatre. Ms. Thornburg has taught screenwriting at The Evergreen State College and The Ohio State University. Her work has been funded by the NEA, the NEH, the Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio Humanities Council, the Ohio Joint Program in the Arts and Humanities and the Greater Columbus Arts Council, among others.

 

 

 

Walter Burbach
Student Competition

A Bachelor of Fine Arts, Cinema Production from The Ohio State University. Mr. Burbach is an Ohio Arts Council funded screenwriter and has worked on a dozen independent films in Los Angeles as well as producing and writing his own feature film. He is president of the board of directors of the Ohio State University, Department of Photography & Cinema Alumni Society.
